Our Research Studies

ORBIT Study

In this study, we are exploring how well cognitive behavioural therapy and cognitive remediation therapy work for improving symptoms of psychosis, cognitive skills (e.g., attention, memory, problem solving), and the ability to engage within one’s community. If you agree to take part, you will be randomly assigned to either receive cognitive behavioural therapy, cognitive remediation therapy, or a combination of the two for 6 months. You will participate in one individual and one group session of treatment (both lasting 1-hour each) per week either in-person at the CPD Lab or online, depending on your preference.

You will also complete 4 assessment sessions spread out over the course of 18 months where we will ask you questions about your everyday behaviours, experiences, thoughts, and cognitive abilities. Each time you take part in an assessment, we will reimburse you $30, for a total of up to $120. The assessments will take place online with one of our colleagues at the University of Toronto using the videoconferencing platform ZOOM Health.

To be eligible for the study, you must:
1.     Be between the ages of 18 and 65.
2.     Be able to read, write, and speak English.
3.     Have a diagnosis of a schizophrenia-spectrum disorder.
4.     Have not received CBT or CR in the past six months.

RISE Study
